How about every time we kill a albino rat we get a point of fame? Creative right? =D
Like somone said we could just mass farm 50g chests and get tons of purps, you could probs max an already expensive title in a weekend for next to nothing.

Why are golds = rares? I mean, golds AREN'T rare. Golds are incrediablly common actually. They may be refered to as rare items for the ID title, but that's the whole point of this suggestion, to change what counts as "rare" for one weekend.
And Ekelon, "it's just an idea" means don't burn the guy at the stake for suggesting it/flaming/being utter asses about it like a lot of people in this thread are.

false...its like, or shold be
extreme rare (green),very rare (gold), rare (purple), uncommon (blue), common (white)
that would be logical...and thus meaning purple being rare..they hsould count for the title...
and like it was said...golds get only handled..like as if they would be super rare..but they are not....
Due to Zaishen Chests, Dungeon Chests, Lockpicks/Locked Chests and better drop rate weekends... decreased the rareness factor of Golds massively ..not to mention that it decreases so or so permanently through powerfarming botters....
the market is somewhat of flooded by gold stuff, since these changes...that gold stuff really can't be seen anymore as so rare....
Come on..its realy not big change in the title..to just let gold stuff give 2 points..instead of 1, so that purple stuff can give 1 point then....
This would only slightly speed up the title, but would massively reduce the big grind factor behind it!!!...
lesser grind = more fun = more time to get other things done, then tpo permanently farm for golds or for money to buy from other golds...
also purples would then slightly increase a bit in their value...so that it makes again more sense to sell purplwe stuff to other players and not let them end up instantly being sold at the npc..because they are so useless and unwanted

Gold items are rare because 'rare' is the REAL ingame name of the gold items.
Blue and White = Common
Purple = Uncommon
Gold = Rare
Green = Unique.
That's one of the BASICS in GW terminology.
I have already said it.
Chaging the title so ANY rare or 'unique' picked or received in quests(but never purchased) counts: Yes.
Counting items that are not 'rare' or : No.
It could work as a weekend or as the real behavior of the title. Maybe for GW2.

Wisdom counts for rare items. Golds = rare. Purples = not rare. It's fine the way it is.

Same analogy for fame...oh wait, but they did that weekend didn't they...multiple times...

Exactly. It would be an event. Not a perminant edition. Yet a lot of people who are /notsigning are acting like it would be perminant.

"shold be"?
What it should be (to let you know i disagree with what you think it "shold be") means nothing. "Rare" in A-net's terms (the term that matters) are items with gold lettering, so making purples count is the same as making it each time you pick up a red iris flower you recive drunkard points.

Not really. You get fame by playing; ostensibly, if you're playing HA, you're a PvP player and you enjoy it. People who have 10k golds aren't "enjoying" it; they've probably bought golds for a significant amount of money, and this would in effect waste that money.
